Incorporating a little leopard print

Hi everyone, happy Thursday! Lucky for you, you guys can't hear me, because I think I might have a little laryngitis and I sound terrible. Besides that, this week is flying by and I can't wait for the weekend! I plan on going to some garage sales and hopefully getting some good bargains. My outfit I wore today includes many pieces from Old Navy and I love them all. First, my Old Navy's Rockstar Skinny jeans are a great price and they have some fabulous colors to choose from. I find they do run small and I always go one size up. Second, my leopard shirt is also from Old Navy and I plan on wearing this shirt in the summer with many things. I have accented my outfit with gold accessories, including my new gold dome ring, from Banana Republic for $35.00 (oh yeah)! My gold studded bracelet is from Forever 21. I have worn that bracelet so, so many times and I have even given it as a gift! I hope everyone has a great weekend.

70's Silk Dress

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! I did and man, did it fly by! We had some pool time, fishing, and bike riding. It was a great weekend for outside activities. This week is going to be really busy for me, it is my last week of work until summer break. So, because of that, I will not be posting a DIY on Wednesday. This little number in the picture below is another one of my great thrift store finds. I think I passed this dress over in the store because it had a shirt/jacket in the same print over this dress. I loved the print and when I saw underneath it was a tank dress, I knew it was mine! I had to do a little altering on the straps, but otherwise a perfect fit. I paired it with my Guess nude pumps (I have been wearing alot) and my cat eye glasses from Forever 21.

I found a couple of tank dresses with a vintage feel. I would love to hear which is your favorite.

Pedestrian Crossing

Happy Friday, and I am sure you guys are as pumped up about the long weekend as I am! I plan on going to the pool as the forecast calls for 90 degrees! Also, I need to catch up on some DVR of the Bachlorette. Well, this is my checked neon J.Crew shirt that I purchased at the thrift store for $5.00 that I had mentioned in my retro maxi skirt post. The size of the shirt is a little larger than I normally wear, but I wasn't letting this shirt go. I thought I could wear it baggier and roll the sleeves. I paired this shirt with this skirt from Forever 21 that I purchased last season. My favorite characteristic of the skirt besides the crochet layering is the full length zipper in the back. I paired it with a pair of  Guess Nude heels (they are becoming one of my favorite shoes) and a great silver balled necklace.
There is always a funny story behind this picture. I am not sure why they have a pedesteian crossing sign here because the speed limit is 55 on this road and the cars travel that and more. So,  I look like I am taking a stroll, but I am saying "Ok. Take it fast, so I don't get run over!"

This shirt incorporates the neon with a nude color.

These are a few pieces that I found available that are similar to the ones in my outfit.  I have worn my silver balled necklace for years and the one I found on Etsy looks like a great necklace at a great price.

Mini- Gingham Shirt- J.Crew ($75.00)

Tiered Crochet Skirt- Urban Outfitters $54.00
THe Gladiator Chunk Bib Necklace by Design by Liz ($68.00)

I found a few nude pumps that would be great through many different seasons. I think all of these are great price points and styles.

Guess Verna Pump ($44.95)

Fergalicious Eileen Pump ($39.95)

L'Atelier London Erin Sandal- ($69.95)
Franco Sarto Sandal ($49.95)

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Do you have any special plans over the long weekend? Which of the nude pumps is your favorite?

DIY- Navy and Gold Rope Necklace

Wow, this is my 100th post! It's crazy how time flies by when you are having fun, and I am. I feel like my blog has been a great outlet for my creativity. This week for DIY Wednesday, I made this navy and gold rope necklace.

I noticed lately that rope is being used for necklaces and bracelets. I decided to make my own, so in a few easy steps this necklace can be yours.

Materials needed are:

Colored gold metal in a roll, used in last week's DIY.

These can be found at any local hardware store. They were cheap! You will need one of the large size.

You will need two of this size.

This rope can be purchased at JoAnn fabrics and it was $2.99 a yard, I think a belt will be in my future made from these ropes. You will only need a 1/2 yard for this project.

You will need both of these, but I would probably buy the cupped fasteners for the end, the next time I make one of these.

This can also be found sold by the roll at JoAnn fabrics- you only need an 2 inches.

Metal texturizing tool, also used in last week's DIY.
Also needed for this project ar scissors, wire cutters, and Goop glue.

Step 1: Cut a piece of the metal roll so that enough hangs over each piece of pvc piping.

Step 2: This metal is soft, so you can fold it into the hole of the pipe. Make sure it is as flat as possible, with no bumps. This process will need to be repeated three times with each piece of piping.

Step 3: Use the tool to texturize the metal and apply Goop glue over the edge where the metal comes together.

Step 4 : Tie a knot with both ropes, then slide the pvc on, and repeat! Also, when you twist the ropes together, make sure to put a dab of glue to hold the twist.
Step 5: Your necklace should look like this, after each knot.

Step 6: Wrap the gold wire with pliers on the end. String on the clasp before closing the wire.

The last step is to add the gold pyramid appliques on the two outer pvc pipes. Then your necklace is complete!
Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

Red and Blue

Happy Monday! This weekend flew by! It was the last weekend of soccer and I couldn't be prouder of my two rugrats. They gave every game 110% and that is all I can ask. I also got to work on my tan at the games, so I am not clear! I can't believe next weekend the pools will open and it will seem like summer is officially here. I also went out Saturday night with some friends and had some great wine and fun. I wore this dress from H&M, and even though it is from last season, it is one of my favorites because of the bright red and blue colors. I also finally used my Kate Spade purse, I got in February for my birthday, and my gold watch by Michael Kors for Mother's Day.

I have selected a few red and blue printed dresses in different styles that could work on many body types.

Pink Neon Pants

Happy Friday! I wore these pants to work yesterday and loved how cheery they were. They are from the Gap. The Gap has such a great variety of neon merchandise. I hopefully see a pair of neon shorts from there in my future.  My son's preschool graduation is today and I can't believe I am about to have a kindergartner. The time flies by so fast. Besides that, this is the last hectic weekend of soccer, then we will have some time to chill on the weekends.  There are a couple of neighborhood garage sales, that I hope to get to. My favorite time to garage sale is in the spring when everyone has gone through their things(junk) and I can get first dips.  Also I took a photo, of my arm candy. I have added a few new bracelets for you to check out!

The rhinestone bracelets were made by me from a DIY of  Neon Rhinestone Bangles by Andrea at For the Love Of. I love how they turned out and might make a few more for gifts. Also, in the mix of bracelets is a  Beaded bracelet from Tiffany, given to me by a dear friend!

DIY- Neon and Gold Earrings

Happy Wednesday! Sorry to get this post out so late, very busy day. This is a crazy time for me, but only 11 days until summer break (but who's counting). A couple of weeks ago, I came across these earrings by Herve' Van der Straeten. These were listed as one of the hot accessories for the Fall 2012 season. I thought I could make a similar pair and I think I was pretty successful. I changed the blue color of these earring to neon, which is very hot this spring. I will make a cobalt pair for the fall.

Herve' Van Der Straeten 2012 Earrings

This is my version of these earrings and they were very easy to make.

One material you will need is this Pardo Jewelry Clay. I got my on sale for $1.79. It comes with 6 balls of clay, so you can make many earrings! They have a great assortment of colors.
Another material is this color metal roll in gold. This is $4.99 and I am planning on using this in another project (hopefully).
The last few materials needed are these metal textured tools, 10 mm flat post w/ clutch,  Goop glue, scissors, pencil, oven, cutting board, knife, and cookie tray.
Step 1: Take a ball of clay and roll it in your hands until it gets soft. Then, put two pieces on a cutting board and cut your shapes. I made trapezoids. After this, put the clay on a baking tray and cook for clay on 248 degrees for 20 minutes or until clay hardens.

Step 2: Cut two pieces of the metal roll. I cut my pieces 1 inch by 1 inch. The consistency of material is similar to Reynold's aluminum foil.

Step 3: Cut the metal with a right angle in the bottom right hand corner.

Step 4:  Cut another right angle in the upper right hand corner and bottom left hand corner.

Your design should look similar to this.

Step 5: Use the first design as a template for the second, by tracing around with a pencil.

Now you should have two gold metal appliques for your earrings.

Step 6: Use the metal texturizing tool over your templates.

Step 7:  Apply Goop craft glue on the back of the appliques. The metal will fold over the sides.

Step 8: Glue the 10mm flat post and let dry.

I really liked how they turned out. I got a lot of compliments and it's feels great when someone says, " I love those earrings, where did you get them?" Then you can say I made them!
I wore the earrings with this black dress from H&M. The neon color of the earrings really popped with this dress. Sorry, they didn't show up in the photo, weird since they were neon.

I would love to hear what you think! Did anyone watch the Fashion Star finale?
